Deep Blues: A Musical Pilgrimage to the Crossroads is the DVD version of a great book that I blogged about here.

I’m was pretty biased towards the book. You know what they say take a book, condense it to six sentences and you have the movie. Thats not exactly true when the movie is a documentary, I should have realized that. I’ve been a fan of Robert Palmer for a long time and it was great to fill in the blanks in my identifying with this most respected musicologist. Thats really why I bought the movied. But, how could I possibly think a documentary of the blues could be better read than seen and heard? When I ordered this up I was envisioning entitled the blog post “Deep Blues, Great book good movie” but I have to say, “Deep Blues, Great Book, Great Movie.”
