I love acoustic blues and this is just too wonderful to keep to myself. Apparently there is another blues delta other than the one we’re all so familiar with. He (all the Papa’s may we assume) comes from the (Modau)-Delta behind the retention basin of a small town in the Odenwald, Germany. And I’m proud to say this fine acoustic blues band (Papa Legba’s Blues Lounge) is my latest friend on Myspace. What wonderful acoustic blues these guys play and what they lack in video footage they make up for with wonderful art work. Check this out

Is that awesome stuff or what? Now I have don’t have many details on this band – I’m hoping they’ll respond to this post and fill us in on the details – or I’ll have to google translate their page. I looked up Papa Legba on wikipedia and got this “In Haitian Vodou, Papa Legba is the intermediary between the loa and humanity”. Ok that sounds like some spiritual influence in the blues I guess. So all kidding aside, and right from the Papa Legba’s Blues Lounge Myspace page these papas are:
Papa Jürgen Queißner, Ex-Marburger (Guitarwizard of the Bottleneck)
Papa Reiner Lenz, elegant magician of the blues harp
and
Papa “Smoking” Thomas Heldmann, Master of the big strings
