You may not think you know any Blink Blake tunes but if you’re a fan of Ragtime you probably know a couple. He’s in the Jail house Now and Champagne Charlie 1932) are a couple of his most popular. Researching Blind Blake is really quite fascinating as it turns up so many facts in question. Blind Blake’s life is a mystery: Even the picture on The Best of Blind Blake is the only known picture of him. Jas Obrecht, author of Rollin’ and Tumblin’ : The Postwar Blues Guitarists has an excellent article about Blind Blake here on Tim Gracyk’s site.
