Blind Blake – Part 2 – The Mysterious Death of Blind Blake

A while back I found some public domain mp3s of Blind Blake and became intrigued by him. To make a short story shorter there are more questions than answers available about Blind Blake. The most comprehensive information I found on Bling Blake was actually from a research project on East Coast Piedmont Blues by UNC Asheville students enrolled in the Liberal Studies Introductory Colloquia, “The Art of the Blues” (Fall ’05) and “Jazz and Blues in American Culture” (Fall ’03) with a Project Advisor: Bryan Sinclair.

The entire original Blind Black Article including what little is known about his mysterious death can be found here at http://facstaff.unca.edu/sinclair/piedmontblues/blindblake.html and was done by by Christin Avent and Joshua McDaniel, UNC Asheville students.

It’s a very impressive piece of research these students have done and I’d like to thank them for their hard work and University of North Carolina at Asheville for supporting preserving this amazing history of the blues.

I’d also like to thank my friend Mississippi Blue, a myspace friend from Germany up on myspace.com for bringing this story to my attention.
