Seasick Steve – 3 Stringed Slide Wonder

I’m currently enjoying a Seasick Steve concert up on Moshcam.com. You can too – check it out.

Look closely at the guitar and you’ll see it only has three strings (E, A and B – what more do you need the ol 1, 4 5 in E). A bunch of things come to mind when I listen to this but I guess in the vein of more is less I remember something a great guitar teacher once told me; He said “you know sometimes it’s the silence between the notes that make the music”. Steve humbles me cranking out more music on three strings than some entire bands can make and more than I’ve managed in my 50 years. The whole concert is not done on 3 string though – some of its done on a cigar box like guitar which seems to be fully set up with 6 strings then there is the real cigar box guitar with 4 strings (an extra high E string if I’m not mistaken).
