I love this time of year when following right on the heals of the announcement of the Grammy Award Winners for Blues the Blues Foundation announces their nominees for the Blue Foundation Awards. Obviously any performer would love to get the public recognition that goes with a Grammy but getting a Blues Foundation award, previously known as the W.C Handy awards, carries not only the status of recognition by a historical society but also the honor of being recognized as a worthy blues artist by an organization whose mission it is to preserve Blues history, celebrate Blues excellence, support Blues education and ensure the future of the Blues.
