Thompsonville, MA. April 18, 2012 – The acid-blues Boston-based trio “Bees Deluxe” celebrate the release of their album “Space Age Bachelor Pad Blues” with a live show at Johnny D’s in Somerville on Sunday evening, May 6th. The band financed the album with a Kickstarter project which included a psychedelic video shoot on location on Isla Mujeres, Mexico.

“We’ve been mixing tracks recorded at Natick’s “All Things Audio” Studios, and in my basement over the past few months, and are willing ourselves to release the album before we come up with more ideas – because we have too many ideas,” said keyboard player Bruce Mattson. “The album contains songs and tunes written specially for this release and some live-in-the-studio recordings of stage favorites.”
The album’s 12 tracks include the instrumental acid-blues opener “3454 miles,” and the Louisiana flavored originals “Kidnap” and “Rooster Shoes.” The band ventures into psychotropic moods with “The Girl with Green Hair” and “Asleep at the Chelsea” semi-biographical orchestrations of chaos and complex interplay between Bruce’s Hammond B3 Organ and Conrad Warre’s home-made FrankenStrat. The album also contains two heavily re-arranged covers, Billie Holiday’s “God Bless the Child” and the Roy Buchanan instrumental “Hot Cha” which show off the band’s interplay and musical strengths to first-time listeners.
“If it didn’t have serious, and deep grooves,” said Patrick Sanders the band’s drummer and percussionist, “we wouldn’t have dreamed of releasing it.”
The May 6th gig at Johnny D’s will include surprise musical guests
