Blues in the School
Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to a Blues in the School showcase performance. It’s an opportunity for parents, students, teachers and member of the community to witness the incredible talent that is recruited to deliver Bluesfest’s annual two-week music education program. T.J. Wheeler hosted an unrehearsed session with great musicians including Reverend Billy C. Wirtz, T.J. Wheeler, Rick Fines, Sharon Riley, Michael Jerome Browne, John Allaire, Ana Muira and other special guests. I’ll apologize in advance for the poor quality recording but I just had to blog about this and provide the video to give you an idea what kind of a great time we were having.
My hat is off to this wonderful program. Check it out here http://www.blues.org/bits/index.php and here http://www.blues-in-the-schools.org/ . Blues in the School has actually won the Blues Foundation Award for Supporting the Blues. I would encourage all of you to get in touch with your local schools and encourage the use of this incredible program in your. Imagine kids 4 to 17 all over the world learning the blues. What a wonderful world! Its more than just supporting the blues too as Blues in the School.org is quick to point out as they ask “Please read what a psychotherapist has to say about Blues In The Schools Program“. Thanks again to Blues in the School for providing this program and Cisco Blues Fest for providing the sponsorship in my town.
